The beginnings of Pagan Lornwritten by Sandy "Suzi" Schroeder for www.paganlorn.comPagan Lorn was created around early 94 in Luxembourg, a bunch of friends starting off with the idea of creating a band. Only "Patton" as Sacha was called had some stage experience...as he had sung in another quite wild group for years before. Patrick and the initial drum-player Max Silvapulle had gone to music academies all their lives...even if Patrick had had classical Piano lessons and Max was more into Jazz... Slim must have had some experience, (I wonder if he had not played in Pattonâs former band aswell) only Vlatsch (Vladeta) started learning to play a bass the day they first rehearsed. In the beginning, the influence of Pagan Lorn was quite various, there were the dark and gothic sounds of My Dying Bride, aswell as Typo Negative, the classical influence Patrick brought with the keybord and the difficult technic of modern jazz on the drums...mixed with the violent playfullness of the front-man Sacha, who was not called "Patton" just like that...Faith no more was listened, Marilyn Manson...Vladeta, Patrick and Patrick Linnig, the manager, were huge Guns Înâ Roses Fans....the band was born in this "hard core grounge environnement" of the mid-90s. The very first concerts, they did not even have enough own songs to play and so they covered from these bands to be able to play an hour. There were a lot of other bands doing their debuts in Luxembourg at this time, but Pagan Lorn very fast cristallized with their research of doing something else... more elaborate. After a few months the first repertoire was standing, and they even had a "special guest" for one of their songs. The rehearsals were held in a small cold place, in a small village in Luxembourg, that many newcomer bands were sharing as it was expensive for student bands to have their own place...They rehearsed hard, three, four times a week, always under the severe guidance of Patton who was full of ambitions for he wanted to succeed....and he was able to make it very clear to others. Later the place had to be given up for renovations and the rehearsals were held in an old small church for a while. They became famos for their special gigs....Patton had a lot of pleasure to prepare shows without telling anyone what he would do...so the surprise was "life on stage" for everybody... The last concert with this "initial" Pagan Lorn set the final point of the culture capital 1995 in Luxembourg, to a choreographie from Luxembourgâs famous Patricia Lippert in the Paerdsstall in Luxembourg. From this concert on, the destinies separed the one's that wanted to become known, and those who had it all done just for fun.... | ||||||||||||||
